Naxos Marble and Cycladic Art
Naxos marble is one of the world's most prized natural stones, a pure white material with a fine crystalline grain quarried on this island for over 5,000 years. Its exceptional whiteness and density made it the preferred stone of ancient Cycladic sculptors and later of classical Greek temples. Local craftsmen on Naxos continue this tradition of stonework today.
The Cycladic figurines in this collection draw directly from that legacy, inspired by the iconic abstract sculptures produced in the Aegean between 3200 and 2000 BCE. Each piece is carved by hand from genuine Naxian marble, with natural variation in the stone's surface that makes every sculpture unique. The collection also includes select pieces in Tinos green marble and Thassos white marble.
